Kung Fu Panda

Kung Fu Panda is a 2008 American animated film produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Paramount Pictures. It was directed by John Wayne Stevenson and Mark Osborne and produced by Melissa Cobb, and stars the voice of Jack Black along with Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Ian McShane, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, Randall
Duk Kim, James Hong and Jackie Chan. Set in ancient China, the plot revolves around a bumbling panda named Po who aspires to be a kung fu master. When an evil kung fu warrior is foretold to escape from prison, Po is unwittingly named the chosen one destined to bring peace to the land, much to the chagrin of the resident kung fu warriors

Although the concept of a “kung fu panda” has been around since at least 1993, work on the film did not begin until 2004.[2] The idea for the film was conceived by Michael Lachance,[3] a DreamWorks Animation executive. The film was originally intended to be a parody, but director Stevenson decided instead to shoot an action comedy martial arts film in the spirit of Hong Kong action cinema that incorporates the hero’s journey narrative archetype for the lead character. The computer animation in the film was more complex than anything DreamWorks had done before. As with most DreamWorks animated films, Hans Zimmer (collaborating with John Powell this time) scored Kung Fu Panda. He visited China to absorb the culture and get to know the China National Symphony Orchestra as part of his preparation. A sequel, Kung Fu Panda 2, is in production and set for release on May 27, 2011.
Kung Fu Panda premiered in the United States on June 6, 2008, and has since received very favorable reviews from critics and most of the movie-going public. The film currently garners an 88% “Certified Fresh” approval rating from review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Kung Fu Panda opened in 4,114 theaters, grossing $20.3 million on its opening day and $60.2 million on its opening weekend, resulting in the number one position at the box office. The film became DreamWorks’s biggest opening for a non-sequel film, highest grossing animated movie of the year, the fourth-largest weekend for a DreamWorks animated film at the American and Canadian box office, behind Shrek the Third, Shrek 2, and Shrek Forever After,[4] and the forty-eighth highest-grossing film of all time.
he story is set in the Valley of Peace, a fictional land in ancient China inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. Po (Jack Black), a young, clumsy and overweight panda, is a kung fu fanatic who idolizes the Furious Five – Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Viper (Lucy Liu), and Crane (David Cross) – a quintet of kung fu masters trained by the red panda Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman) to protect the valley. Because he works in his goose[5] father Ping’s (James Hong) noodle restaurant, Po is unable to achieve his dream of becoming a kung fu master himself.
One day, Shifu’s mentor, the elderly tortoise Master Oogway (Randall Duk Kim), has a vision that Shifu’s former student and foster son, the snow leopard Tai Lung (Ian McShane), will escape from prison and return to the Valley of Peace to take revenge for being denied the Dragon Scroll, which is said to hold the secret to limitless power. Shifu holds a kung fu tournament for the Furious Five so that Oogway may identify the legendary Dragon Warrior, the one kung fu master worthy of receiving the Dragon Scroll and defeating Tai Lung. He arrives too late and the doors to the tournament arena close, but desperate to see the Dragon Warrior be chosen, Po straps himself to a set of fireworks and rockets into the sky, crashing into the middle of the arena. To the surprise of everyone present, Oogway chooses Po, seemingly by accident.
Unwilling to believe that a big, fat panda can be the Dragon Warrior, Shifu attempts to get rid of Po by berating and ridiculing him into quitting his training with the Furious Five, who similarly despise and mock Po for his lack of respect and skill in kung fu. After receiving helpful advice from Oogway, however, Po endures his grueling training and slowly begins to endear himself to the Five with his tenacity, culinary skill and good humor. By this time, Tai Lung escapes from prison as foreseen by Oogway, who makes Shifu promise to train Po before passing away. Still unable to grasp the basics of kung fu, Po despairs he has no chance of defeating Tai Lung, but Shifu discovers that Po is capable of impressive physical feats when motivated by food and, using the promise of a meal, successfully trains Po to incorporate these skills into a makeshift yet effective kung fu style.
Meanwhile, the Furious Five set out on their own to stop Tai Lung themselves, only to return following their defeat. Shifu decides Po is ready to receive the Dragon Scroll which, upon being opened, reveals nothing but a blank, reflective surface. Thinking the scroll is useless, Shifu orders Po and the Five to evacuate the valley while he fights Tai Lung to delay him as long as possible. The dejected Po meets with his father Ping who, in an attempt to console him, reveals that the long-withheld secret ingredient to his famous “secret ingredient soup” is nothing, saying that things become special if people believe them to be. Realizing this is the point of the Dragon Scroll, Po goes to confront Tai Lung after he nearly kills Shifu. Po proves to be a formidable challenge for Tai Lung as he tries to protect the Dragon Scroll to lure the villain away from Shifu, but it eventually falls into Tai Lung’s grasp. However, he is unable to understand or accept its symbolic meaning, and Po ultimately defeats him using the secret “Wuxi Finger Hold”. Po is praised by the Valley of Peace and earns the respect of the Furious Five, who fully acknowledge him as a true kung fu master. Shifu, exhausted but alive after his fight with Tai Lung, is finally at peace with himself now that peace has returned to the valley. Publicized work on the film began before October 2004.[9] In September 2005, DreamWorks Animation announced the film alongside Jack Black, who was selected to be the main voice star.[10]
Initially, the idea for the film was to make it a spoof, but co-director John Stevenson was not particularly keen on the idea so instead chose the direction of simplistic comedy.[8] Reportedly inspired by Stephen Chow’s 2004 martial arts action comedy, Kung Fu Hustle,[11] the co-directors wanted to make sure the film also had an authentic Chinese and kung fu feel to it. Production designer Raymond Zibach and art director Tang Heng spent years researching Chinese painting, sculpture, architecture and kung fu movies to help create the look of the film.[12] Zibach said some of the biggest influence of him are the more artful martial arts films such as Hero, House of Flying Daggers and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.[12] The aim for the film, which took four years to make, was to have a good blend of the two, as well as to give it an “epic” feel, unlike other DreamWorks animated features which resorted to “pop songs and celebrity references.”[13]
In November 2005, DreamWorks Animation announced that Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu and Ian McShane would join Jack Black in the cast.[14]
“We’ve had some productions that were stressful, but this one ran very smoothly and DreamWorks is [sic] this production as a template on how they would like future productions to run. We lucked out, and there really was a sense of harmony on the animation. Even the production people. We all seemed like we were on the same page, believing in the film. That doesn’t happen very often. I tell animators, you will be working on dumpers for most of your career, but every once in a while you get a gem. Kung Fu Panda was a gem.”
—Dan Wagner, Head of Character Animation.[15]
The hand-drawn animation sequence at the beginning of the film was made to resemble Chinese shadow puppetry.[16] The opening, which was directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson and produced by James Baxter, was praised by The New York Times reviewer Manohla Dargis as “striking” and “visually different from most mainstream American animations”.[17] Other reviewers have compared the opening to the evocative style of Genndy Tartakovsky’s Samurai Jack.[18][19] The rest of the film is modern computer animation, which uses bright, offbeat colors to evoke the natural landscape of China.[16] The end credit sequence also features hand-drawn characters and still paintings in the background.[16]
The computer animation used throughout the film was more complex than anything DreamWorks had done before. When the head of production handed the script to VFX Supervisor Markus Manninen, she reportedly laughed and wished him “good luck”. “When we started talking,” said Manninen, “the movie was still a high concept. But for everyone that looked at it, it screamed complexity. We launched off saying, how can you make this movie tangible? How can you find smart ways to bring this world to life in a way that makes it a great movie and not feel like the complexity becomes the driver of the story, but the story and the emotion being the driver?”[20]
In preparation, the animators took a six hour kung fu class.[21]
Producer Melissa Cobb said that originally Po was “more of a jerk,” but that the character changed after they heard Jack Black.[21] According to Jack Black, he mostly worked “in isolation”, although he and Dustin Hoffman did spend a day together, which Cobb said helped with the scene where their characters face off.[21] Lucy Liu said that the film “was quite different because it was such a long process.”[22] Liu said that when she was presented with the project they already had artwork of her character as well as a “short computerized video version of what she would look like when she moved.”[22]
Release
The film held its worldwide premiere at the 61st Cannes Film Festival on May 15, 2008, where it received massive and sustained applause at the end of the film’s screening.[23][24] Kung Fu Panda later had national premieres in the United States on June 1, 2008 at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California,[25] and on June 26, 2008 at Leicester Square in London, for the United Kingdom.[26]
Kung Fu Panda was released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on November 9, 2008. The special features include an animated short film starring Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu and David Cross, a Kung Fu Fighting music video by Cee-Lo Green and Jack Black, a tutorial on how to use chopsticks, sound, The Tech of Kung Fu Panda, The Cast of Kung Fu Panda, deleted and alternate scenes, cast interviews and biographies with Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Ian McShane, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu and David Cross, The Premiere of Kung Fu Panda, interactive games and more. The movie can be purchased as a stand-alone DVD or as part of a two-disc pack that includes the companion story Secrets of the Furious Five.[27]
Reception and box office
Kung Fu Panda has received positive reviews from critics. Rotten Tomatoes reported that 88% of 163 critics gave the film a positive review. The film has an approval rating of 76% from a select group of critics and an approval rating of 83% from users of the site.[28] Metacritic reported the film had an average score of 73 out of 100, based on 33 reviews.[29]
Richard Corliss of Time Magazine gave the film a positive review, stating the picture “provides a master course in cunning visual art and ultra-satisfying entertainment”.[30] The New York Times said, “At once fuzzy-wuzzy and industrial strength, the tacky-sounding Kung Fu Panda is high concept with a heart,” and the review called the film “consistently diverting” and “visually arresting”.[17] Chris Barsanti of Filmcritics.com commented, “Blazing across the screen with eye-popping, sublime artwork, Kung Fu Panda sets itself apart from the modern domestic animation trend with its sheer beauty [...] the film enters instant classic status as some of the most gorgeous animation Hollywood has produced since the golden age of Disney.”[31] The Chicago Tribune called the film “one of the few comedies of 2008 in any style or genre that knows what it’s doing”. Roger Ebert gave it three stars praising the animation, action scenes, and saying that older viewers will be forgiving. The film was released in 4,114 theaters, grossing $20.3 million on its opening day and $60.2 million over the weekend, resulting in the number one position at the box office. It is also DreamWorks Animation’s biggest opening for a non-sequel film, and the fourth-largest opening weekend overall for a DreamWorks animated film (behind Shrek the Third, Shrek 2, and Shrek Forever After).[32][33][34] The film made $215,434,591 in the American and Canadian box office as well as $416,309,969 in foreign box offices bringing its worldwide total to $631,744,560.[35] It was the highest grossing animated movie of 2008 and also the third highest grossing movie of the year. The film was released on DVD and Blu-Ray on November 9, 2008.[36]
Kung Fu Panda was also well-received in China.[37] It made nearly 110 million Chinese Yuan by July 2, 2008, becoming the first animated film to make more than 100 million Yuan in Chinese box offices.[38][39] The Chinese director Lu Chuan commented, “From a production standpoint, the movie is nearly perfect. Its American creators showed a very sincere attitude about Chinese culture.”[40][41] With the film’s success at the Chinese box office, some people within China have questioned the quality of China’s domestic animations. The fact that such a successful film based on Chinese culture was created by the American movie industry has led to some Chinese introspection.[42][43][44]
The release of the film in the land where it was set was not without controversy. Zhao Bandi, a Chinese artist and fashion designer who specializes in panda-related designs, launched an online petition suggesting that the film should be boycotted.[45][46] In his petition, Bandi stated that Hollywood was seeking to profit from Chinese culture. The film was aired soon after the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, and the petition said that the film was in poor taste to be released so soon after the disaster, given that pandas live within the area affected by the quake. Bandi also protested against the fact that the film was produced by DreamWorks, which is owned by Steven Spielberg. Spielberg withdrew from his role as an adviser to the 2008 Summer Olympics over concerns about China’s role in Sudan (although Spielberg is not one of the producers of Kung Fu Panda). Zhao Bandi admitted that he had not actually seen the film prior to the petition.[47] However, while postings on his website both praised and criticized the film, many people said that there was no reason to boycott it. Zhao’s complaints prompted an online backlash asserting that an entertaining film paying tribute to Chinese heritage would be welcome at this difficult time,[48] and some even questioned whether this was just a publicity stunt by the artist.[47]
Awards
Kung Fu Panda had been shortlisted for nomination for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature[49] and the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film.[50] However, both awards were won by Pixar’s WALL-E instead.
By contrast, Kung Fu Panda won 11 Annie Awards (including Best Picture) out of 16 nominations, albeit amid controversy.[51]
[edit] Soundtrack
Main article: Kung Fu Panda soundtrack
As with most DreamWorks animated films, composer Hans Zimmer scored the film. Zimmer visited China in order to absorb the culture and got to know the Chinese National Symphony as part of his preparation; in addition, Timbaland also contributed to the soundtrack.[52] The soundtrack also includes a partially rewritten version of the classic song, “Kung Fu Fighting”, performed by Cee-Lo Green and Jack Black for the end credits. Furthermore, in some versions, the ending credit was sung by Rain. Although Zimmer was originally announced as the main composer of the film, during a test screening, CEO of DreamWorks Animation SKG Jeffrey Katzenberg announced that composer John Powell would also be contributing to the score. This marked the first collaboration in eight years for the two, who had previously worked together on Dreamworks’ The Road to El Dorado and the action thriller Chill Factor. A soundtrack album was released by Interscope Records on June 3, 2008.[53]
Sequel
A sequel called Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom is currently in pre-production and is slated for release on May 27, 2011.[54][55] It is set to be in 3-D and will be directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson (who directed the praised 2-D opening sequence of Kung Fu Panda) with the original cast returning. The story features a new villain with a mysterious weapon so powerful it threatens the very existence of kung fu, and Po must additionally confront his past.[56]
Manga
A manga based on the film has been released in Japan in Kerokero Ace magazine’s September 2008 issue.[57] It is written by Hanten Okuma and illustrated by Takafumi Adachi.[58]

Metal Slug 4

free pc game download full vresion Metal Slug 4
Download Metal Slug 4 Full version Metal Slug 4 (メタルスラッグ4?) is a run and gun video game for the Neo-Geo console/arcade platform created by SNK. It was released in 2002 for the MVS arcade platform and is the fourth game in the Metal Slug series. 2 years later, Playmore published Metal Slug 4.

Metal Slug 4 retains the same gameplay as previous titles, with the addition of some new enemies, bosses, weapons, several new vehicles and a new bonus combo system. It was later ported to Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation 2 as a separate game in Japan and Europe, and along with Metal Slug 5 as a compilation in North America.

A bonus scoring system was added that allows the player to be rewarded depending on how many enemies are killed in the time allotted. The time allotted is determined from the type of emblem that is picked up. A time meter will appear on the top of the screen, and if the player lives through the end of the level, they will be awarded bonus points for badges that represent feats accomplished. Eri and Tarma were replaced with Nadia and Trevor.

[edit] Story

One year after the events of Metal Slug 3, the world is trembling under the new threat of a mysterious but deadly cyber virus that threatens to attack and destroy any nation’s military computer system. With Tarma and Eri unable to help due to their own assignments in the matter, Marco and Fio are called in to investigate the situation and are joined by two newcomers, Nadia and Trevor. In their investigation, the group discovers that a terrorist organization known as Amadeus is behind the nefarious plot and that they head into battle against Amadeus’ forces, hoping to destroy the cyber virus before it gets the chance to wipe out the entire world’s military computer system.

Halfway through the game’s story mode, the player is confronted by one who they presume to be Morden, however in the final stage they find an underground facility where Terminator – like doubles of Morden are being manufactured. Allen O’ Neil, (who has appeared numerous times throughout the series) fights the player in this stage for the very last time, and is also revealed to be a machine like the Morden doubles before he is destroyed and the player confronts the leader of Amadeus.

[edit] New features

* Double Heavy Machine Guns [2H]: The stronger version of the Heavy Machine Gun [H] in the previous series. Allow players to carry two submachine guns which cause the damage of 1 per shot and with more rapid firing than Heavy Machine Guns. However, the 2Hs are very rare in the game and only have 200 shots like the Heavy Machine Gun.

* Bradley: First appeared in MS2 as an enemy rocket shooting vehicle, it is equipped with powerful rocket shots and a vulcan cannon like the slugs, players can use it after killing the enemy soldier inside it. However, this vehicle has a very short jumping range and crouches much slower than the other vehicles, and will not become temporarily invincible after receiving an attack from the enemy.

* Metal Crow: First appeared in MS1 as the “Melty Honey” under the control of the Rebel soldiers. It will appear with Bradley in stage two if under two players mode. It is equipped with a blade-covered shield that shreds enemies, and also enables it to take five shots before it is destroyed. Also in stage 5.

* Crawler: Mechanical version of the sub-human mutants from Metal Slug 2/X which appears in stage four. Much like the Camel Slug in the previous two games, it provides no protection to the player, but has a slightly better jumping ability and also does not harm the player if it touches a rolling bomb.

* Forklift Truck: It will appear in stage 5 with the Metal Crow. Like the Drill Slug from MS3, it can “jack up” if the player presses the jump button during the onboard in the Forklift Truck. It will stab the enemy with the fork at the front in the player presses the bomb button. Its fork can shred the enemy also. The Forklift Truck does not have a vulcan cannon; rather, the player uses whatever weapon they have. The player is always exposed to enemy attacks.

* Monkey Transformation: In the underground path of stage 1 and the final stage, there are scientists with rifles. These aren’t loaded with bullets but a special chemical shot, that transforms characters into gibbons which are rather like the monkey Utan in Metal Slug 3. Players gain a much stronger jumping ability and the ability to hang on the bars over their heads, which saves them from most of the attacks from the enemy. But they can only fire a small gun which is similar to the Heavy Machine Gun. Players can be transformed back into human form by picking up an antidote dropped by scientists. This transformation is the only one in the series with an animation for returning to human form, in which the player falls asleep as a monkey then promptly wakes up as a human. Players who are hit by the chemical shot while in monkey form will die.

[edit] Development history

Metal Slug 4 is a product of a joint-venture between both Mega Enterprise, a Korean game publishing and distribution company, and Noise Factory, a Japanese company focusing on creating musical scores.

When SNK declared bankruptcy, Mega Enterprise still retained its right to distribute several of SNK’s titles within Korea. Mega went a step further by acquiring the authorization to continue to produce several of SNK’s titles, primarily the Metal Slug series, which was very popular in South Korea

Plot

In 1945 in New Mexico, a blast from a nuclear experiment in Manhattan Project reveals a strange crystalline structure, from which a winged creature flies out. In Calcutta 1996, Lara Croft is approached by Larson Conway, who introduces her to Jacqueline Natla, who wishes for Lara to find a piece of an artifact called the Scion, located in the Peruvian mountains. Lara, having searched unsuccessfully for such an artifact with her father in the past, agrees to go.

In the Peruvian mountains, Lara finds a tomb belonging to god king Qualopec. She discovers that he was one of three God Kings (the Triumvirate) who ruled Atlantis before it sank. Lara leaves with a piece of the three-part Scion, but notices movement from what had appeared to be a statue of Qualopec before the tomb collapses. Shortly after, Lara is confronted by Larson, who attempts to take the Scion piece from her. After knocking him out, she discovers that Natla has sent Pierre Dupont, another archaeologist, to find the next piece. Lara breaks into Natla's office that night and finds evidence that the next piece of the Scion is in St. Francis Folly of Greece.

Lara departs to Greece, and finds the second piece of the Scion in the depths of a tomb. While observing the empty coffin of Tihocan, the second member of the Triumvirate, Lara is told at gun point to give up her piece of the Scion by Pierre. After Pierre takes the piece Lara tries to take him by surprise but he escapes with the Scion piece in hand, only to be killed by guardian centaurs outside of the tomb. After defeating the centaurs, and assembling both pieces of the Scion, Lara has a vision that reveals the location of the third and final piece of the Scion: Egypt.

Lara travels to Egypt, and successfully retrieves the third piece of the Scion. After assembling all three pieces, Lara's earlier vision becomes much clearer. Two of the three Triumvirates, Tihocan and Qualopec, are sentencing the third one, revealed to be Natla, to banishment in Lara's vision. Natla, after releasing Atlantis' own army against itself in an attempt to bring about the Seventh Age, is imprisoned in the crystalline structure for a thousand years.
The new graphically improved Sanctuary of the Scion.

With Lara in a trance from watching the vision, Natla steals the Scion, and has Lara restrained by her three henchmen. Lara escapes and follows the departing Natla on a motorbike, managing to sneak onto Natla's departing boat. Lara follows Natla into a desolate mine, and kills Larson when he tries to stop her progression. Visibly shaken, Lara then confronts Kold and Kid, who end up killing each other in the skirmish. Lara then travels to the top of the Atlantean pyramid and confronts Natla.

Not long into the confrontation with Natla, Lara realises that Natla's plan is to resurrect the army of Atlantis. Natla attempts to convince Lara to stop opposing her, and become immortal like she is. Lara shoots the levitating Scion in response, and is then tackled by Natla, who falls into the molten liquid while Lara uses her grappling hook to survive. Lara, thinking Natla dead, tries to escape, confronted by a giant mutant along the way. She is soon confronted by an angry Natla, scorched in appearance, but unimpeded in ability. After a confrontation, Lara collapses a pillar supporting the pyramid onto Natla, trapping her under the collapsing pyramid Lara escapes and sails away in Natla's boat

The game will be returning to the Kingdom of Ehb and focus on the 10th Legion. The legionnaires protected Ehb during the War of Legions and at the end of the war, the commanders of the 10th Legion established a new and independent kingdom of Ehb. The Legion continued to provide stability and protection while the ruler-ship of the kingdom was left to the monarchy.

The Legion became powerful with its influence matching the monarchy. Thirty years ago, the Ehb's king was murdered and the blame was cast upon the Legion. Led by Jeyne Kassynder, the people rose up and the 10th Legion is on the verge of being wiped out.

With the fall of the Legion, the kingdom has broken into smaller states, with Jeyne Kassynder controlling the Church and eastern Ehb. The monarchs have retreated to the mountain of Glitterdelve.

Only a few groups of the Legion descendants managed to survive as most of them were hunted down and slain by Jeyne Kassynder - while others fell victim to the mobs. One of the groups that managed to survive is led by Venerable Odo - believed to be the last surviving legionnaire.

Odo initiated a gathering and asked all the Legion descendants to assemble in northern Ehb, in an attempt to rebuild the Legion and take back their kingdom from Jeyne Kassynder

The Operative: No One Lives Forever

The Operative: No One Lives Forever  free game for pc commonly shortened to No One Lives
Forever, abbreviated NOLF) is a first-person shooter video game with stealth gameplay elements, developed by Monolith Productions and published by Fox Interactive, released for Windows in 2000. The game was also ported later to the PlayStation 2 and Mac OS X. A story-driven game set in the 1960s, No One Lives Forever has been critically acclaimed for, among other things, its stylistic representation of the era in the spirit of many spy films and television series of that decade, as well as for its prevalent use of humor. Players control female protagonist Cate Archer, who works for UNITY, a fictional secret organization that watches over world peace.

After receiving several Game of the Year awards in the press, a special Game of the Year Edition was released in 2001, which included an additional mission. The Operative: No One Lives Forever was followed by a sequel entitled No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way (2002), and a spin-off that takes place during the time between the first two games, Contract J.A.C.K. (2003), both developed by Monolith

The Operative: No One Lives Forever is a story-driven video game, set in the 1960s, and stars female protagonist and spy Cate Archer as the epynomous Operative, who works for UNITY – a secret British organization that watches over world peace. During the story of the game, Archer is sent on missions to a number of locales, including Morocco, East and West Germany, and gets into intense situations, such as scuba diving a shipwreck, freefalling from an airplane without a parachute, and exploring a space station in outer space, all the while fighting armed villains.

The game is a mixture of a first-person shooter and a stealth game. Most (but not all) missions can be solved in multiple ways: using sneaking to avoid danger, using gadgets, or by going in with guns blazing.

A novel feature of the game is its array of gadgets, including a body-removing powder (for disposing of incriminating corpses), lock picks, and an electronic poodle to distract guard dogs. Additionally, the missions are littered with "intelligence items": briefcases, envelopes, and manila folders containing textual notes which often provide humorous side-notes to the game, as well as overheard conversations between guards or scientists (the truth about the failure of the Ford Edsel, for example). Points awarded from intelligence items can gain certain awards at the end of the mission that will add up for bonuses. For example the 'Thanks For Not Getting Hurt' Award allows a 10% increase in maximum health – up to a limit of 120%. Such bonuses are available for health, armor, ammo capacity, damage, accuracy, and reputation. The reputation awards are earned by choosing the 'nice' responses in dialogue trees (although it is uncertain what benefits the reputation bonuses confer

The game is also notable for its use of sound: not only are enemies aware of noise made by the player, but the game features 1960s-style music, which flexibly adapts to the situations that players finds themselves in, similar to that of movie soundtracks (for instance, increasing in tempo or urgency when the player is in a combat situation
