X-Men: The Official Game

X-Men: The Official Game is Activision's tie-in video game to the 2006 film X-Men: The Last Stand. The game covers the events of the films X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand, specifically following the characters of Wolverine, Iceman, and Nightcrawler. It also bridges the gap between the two films, explaining why Nightcrawler is not present for The Last Stand, and also introduces new foes to the X-Men film canon, such as HYDRA. The game was released on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360, developed by Z-Axis; Nintendo GameCube, ported by Hypnos; Microsoft Windows, ported by Beenox; Game Boy Advance, developed by WayForward Technologies; and Nintendo DS, developed by Amaze Entertainment

Writers

Zak Penn and Chris Claremont co-wrote the story for the game. Penn is the co-writer of X-Men: The Last Stand, and Claremont was a longtime writer of the X-Men comic books, establishing the personae for many of the "new" X-Men team, which featured then new members Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Banshee, and Wolverine. Claremont is perhaps best known for the Dark Phoenix Saga. Together, the two have woven a tale that fits in between X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand continuity
Storyline

Professor Xavier asks the X-Men to return to Alkali Lake to retrieve irreplaceable parts to Cerebro. Nightcrawler is asked to infiltrate the remnants of William Stryker's base with his teleportation ability, since the weapons systems were somehow operational. Once inside, he finds out that Stryker had a backup plan to destroy the mutants — mutant hunting robots called Sentinels. Working together, Storm and Wolverine find an A.I. module for a Sentinel when agents of HYDRA (an organization of terrorists) arrive to take the remaining Sentinels to their own base. It is revealed that HYDRA had designed the robots for Stryker. Inside the base, Wolverine discovers that HYDRA had employed one of his former adversaries — Lady Deathstrike, who was able to survive an apparent death in X2 after being pumped full of adamantium.

Nightcrawler and Colossus destroy the generators for Alkali Lake. Nightcrawler is then plagued by visions of a youthful, angry Jason Stryker, who continues to remind Nightcrawler that he left him to die. It is revealed that Jason Stryker is alive and well, and wants to continue his father's dream of seeing all mutants destroyed, and escapes with agents of HYDRA, and the Master Mold. Storm and Wolverine then Battle Lady Deathstrike, until Deathstrike eventually escapes the facility with the remnants of HYDRA, as well as the remaining Sentinels and the Master Mold. Wolverine tells Storm he is going to follow HYDRA. He promises to return as he hitches a ride on Deathstrike's Tokyo-bound helicopter. Iceman, Storm, Colossus, and Nightcrawler return to the Institute.

Iceman is told to fight Pyro, who is threatening to destroy a nuclear reactor. After a battle, Pyro escapes and Iceman meets up with the rest of the team, after Xavier praises his skills in the battle. Nightcrawler and Storm face off against one man who is many: James Madrox, the Multiple Man. Nightcrawler defeats Multiple Man, and he is to go to a prison for high-powered mutant criminals. This storyline is somewhat picked up in X-Men: The Last Stand, when Magneto and his new Brotherhood free Multiple Man from the Prison Convoy.

Jason activates the Master Mold in Tokyo, causing the Sentinels to be activated. They begin to hunt down mutants, capturing them, and Iceman sets out to prevent this from happening, and destroys many of the Sentinels.

Wolverine infiltrates HYDRA's main base, and cuts through many of their forces. As the Silver Samurai consults Deathstrike about her feelings of dishonor, Wolverine interrupts their discussion. Yuriko announces she'll handle Logan, and the Silver Samurai exits the Dojo. A battle ensues, ending with Wolverine slicing a rope suspending a large wooden platform; the large structure breaks through the floorboards, taking Deathstrike and Yukiro with it. Wolverine then tracks the Silver Samurai to the roof of the facility; Silver Samurai reveals that he is himself a mutant, and if Wolverine is able to honorably defeat him in combat he will tell Wolverine how to defeat the Sentinels through the Master Mold. Conquering Samurai in combat, Wolverine gains the information, and tells the team how to defeat Master Mold.

Xavier telepathically contacts Magneto, and asks him for help in facing the Sentinel forces. Magneto agrees to a final team-up, saying the next time, it will be as foes again. The X-Men, meanwhile, are attacked by new, towering Giant Sentinels, leaving Iceman to defeat the robots. Iceman wipes out these Sentinels, as Master Mold lurks in the distance. Magneto arrives and uses his powers of magnetism to crush the many Sentinels attacking the mutants. The temporary alliance over, Magneto sends Sabretooth after a new recruit for his Brotherhood: Jason Stryker.

Arriving inside the Master Mold, Nightcrawler must disable its control center, while he is aided by a kindly apparition of Jason Stryker, who helps point the way through the maze of the Mold's body. When he arrives at the Master Mold's command center, he finds Jason, who hates the younger "ghost" Jason, a manifestation of his split psyche. Wolverine arrives in the Master Mold, and Jason uses his powers to make Wolverine fight himself in a mental battle in the Weapon X Lab, to fight his own demons. Wolverine is victorious against a horde of himself, and he heads to the Master Mold's head. Jason tries to get rid of Nightcrawler by entering his mind and trying to convince Kurt that he is not a mutant, but a real demon. Nightcrawler disables the Master Mold's neural net, changed by Jason to look like a demonic realm. Meanwhile, Iceman destroys the core of the Master Mold.

Sabretooth works his way to Wolverine and Nightcrawler's location, knocking Nightcrawler out and taking the wheelchair bound Jason, when Wolverine arrives and attacks his nemesis. The two have a vicious battle, ending with Logan throwing Sabretooth from a great height to be impaled below. Jason dies in the battle, the good part of his psyche winning, and tells Nightcrawler it is okay for him to leave him this time.

With the Sentinels, Master Mold, and Jason out of the picture, the X-Men head home. Nightcrawler tells Xavier he does not want to be an X-Man, for their lives are too violent and he is a peaceful man. Xavier tells him he is always welcome in the Mansion, and Kurt leaves, explaining his absence in X-Men: The Last Stand
Gameplay

Players control the actions of several X-Men related characters, most notably Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Iceman, as they uncover a plot to eradicate mutants. Sometimes, another X-Man will help the player's character battle
Consoles

Wolverine's levels involve fighting hordes of soldiers, armed with weapons. He can retract his claws, but any time a button is pressed, they are extracted. Wolverine heals minor wounds, reflected as yellow on his Life Gauge, but when his minor wound damage empties, all wounds are considered major, taking off his actual life bar. Wolverine can't target lock like his allies, he can only block, which can fend off weak attacks only until it is built up. Wolverine, after he has attacked for a time, builds up a Fury Bar, which when activated increases his healing rate, and his Strength. It also changes his attacks' appearances.

Nightcrawler's levels involve mostly stealth missions, running along pipes in the ceiling, and teleporting. Nightcrawler can teleport to any area within his visual range. Like Wolverine, Nightcrawler heals by holding down a button, only Nightcrawler constantly takes life gauge damage, and when he heals, it is called "Shadowmeld" or "Shadow Aura", a nod to the comic books (Nightcrawler becomes invisible in shadow). Nightcrawler can teleport behind and combo-attack several foes during a brawl.

Iceman's levels all take place at high speeds as he continuously rides on his trademark ice slide. Iceman creates an icy path in front of him, flying through the air while shooting his ice beam and ice projectiles. Iceman's attacks are an Ice Beam, which cools off fires and damages foes; Frost Shield, which will cancel any damage he takes while it is "up"; and Hailstorm, which is his main attack, hurling several balls of ice at targets. Iceman will heal automatically as long as he doesn't incur damage for an amount of time

x-men

The X-Men are a superhero team in the Marvel Comics Universe. They were created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, and first appeared in The X-Men #1 (September 1963). The basic concept of the X-Men is that under a cloud of increasing anti-mutant sentiment, Professor Xavier created a haven at his Westchester mansion to train young mutants to use their powers for the benefit of humanity, and to prove mutants can be heroes.[1] Xavier recruited Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, Beast, and Marvel Girl, calling them "X-Men" because they possess special powers due to their possession of the "X-Gene," a gene which normal humans lack and which gives mutants their abilities. Early on, however, the "X" in X-Men stood for "extra" power which normal humans lacked. It was also alluded to that mutations occurred as a result of radiation exposure.

The first issue also introduced the team's archenemy, Magneto, who would continue to battle the X-Men for decades throughout the comic's history, both on his own and with his Brotherhood of Mutants (introduced in issue #4). The X-Men universe also includes such notable heroes as Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, and Rogue. Besides the Brotherhood of Mutants, other villains that the X-Men have fought include the Sentinels, Apocalypse, Mister Sinister, the Hellfire Club, and Weapon X.

The X-Men comics have been adapted into other media, including animated television series, video games, and a commercially successful series of films

Call of Duty 2

Call of Duty 2 free pc game full version download Call of Duty 2 is a first-person shooter video game and the second installment in the critically acclaimed Call of Duty series. It was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It was released on October 25, 2005 for Microsoft Windows and on November 22, 2005 for the Xbox 360 in Europe, Australia and North America. Other versions were made for mobile phones as well as Pocket PCs. It was published by Konami in the Japanese market and released on the PC on March 24, 2006 and on the Xbox 360 on June 15, 2006 in Japan.

The game is set during World War II and is experienced through the perspectives of four soldiers, one in the Red Army, one in the United States Army and two in the British Army. The game was met with a positive public reception, receiving mostly positive reviews from critics.[1][2] The Xbox 360 version sold over 250,000 copies in its first week, and had sold 1.4 million copies by October 2006

Gameplay

The player can crouch and lie prone, and is able to scale low walls and other obstacles.[5] The player can carry two firearms, which can be swapped with those left on the battlefield, and also carries both fragmentation and smoke grenades. The player can use a gun's iron sights to aim more accurately. A compass on the heads-up display (HUD) shows both friends and foes, and objective markers to indicate locations the player must reach, areas to defend, or enemy cannons or tanks that the player must plant explosives on to disable. Emplaced weapons such as machine guns and flak cannons are available in some locations to take out enemy forces. In addition, some missions place the player in control of a tank.[6]

The player has a set of binoculars. While it is generally ignored during infantry-limited gameplay, it is vital to the long-range use of the 88 mm guns, Crusader tanks and one of the missions in which the player must direct artillery fire to defend a town. It is also important for scouting, though most of the game takes place in personal, close combat situations reducing the importance of this tactic.

Should the player take severe damage, the screen will turn red and the sound of the character's heartbeat will become loud; this indicates the player's health is low. The player must find a way to stay out of fire to recover before entering battle again or else will die and have to restart at the last checkpoint. Health is only restored through automatic recharging when the player is not taking fire. Some attacks, like explosions from grenades or shells, will kill the player instantly if the player is too close.[7]

In April 2006, Infinity Ward released the Call of Duty 2 Radiant, which allows a player to create their own multiplayer or single player maps.[8] Along with Radiant, the mapmaker includes Maya plug-in support, an effects editor, and an asset manager which allows custom models to be made and imported into the game, as well as custom effects

Pariah

Pariah free pc game full version download  is a first-person shooter computer game developed by Digital Extremes, co-developers of the Unreal franchise. It was released on May 3, 2005 for Windows and Xbox. It uses a modified version of the Unreal engine and the Havok physics engine. A demo featuring the multiplayer portion of the game was released half a month before the game. Pariah received mixed reviews from critics

Premise

In the year 2520, Jack Mason, a medic, is on a ship transporting Karina, a woman who is carrying a highly classified transgenic virus -- and who, according to the manual, has had her civil rights revoked. While flying over "The Zone" the ship is shot down by "Scavengers," crash landing on Earth. Karina is seized by the Scavengers and Jack must find her before an outbreak of the virus occurs. Jack suspects that it was more than just a Scavenger conflict, as the surface to air missile was too advanced for scavengers to have obtained on their own
Gameplay

Pariah features standard first-person shooter gameplay, largely influenced by the Unreal franchise, particularly Unreal 2 (whose game engine Pariah is based on). The single-player and multi-player game feature drivable vehicles that may be used in combat.

The game's most remarkable feature is the use of collectible Weapon Energy Cores with which to upgrade the player's weapons, giving them additional features and greater power. Each weapon in the game can be upgraded a total of 3 times
Characters

Jack Mason – Jack is a medic for the Alliance. Having been demoted several times for insubordination, he now does menial jobs such as transporting prisoners and patients.
Karina – Jack's transport when his ship was shot down. Karina is a cryogenically frozen patient carrying a highly classified transgenic virus.
Stockton – Stockton is the warden of "The Anvil" prison.
Stubbs – Stubbs was Jack's pilot when his ship went down.

Full Plot Synopsis

Pariah notably omits to explain key background information about the plot and the in-game universe from the player, and thus much of the story progresses without any context or background for the player to identify with. Even at the end of the game, many key plot points remain largely unexplained, leaving it up to the player to conjecture as to what really happened
Background

The game takes place 30 years after mankind fought a devastating war against an enemy known as "The Shroud". Exactly who or what the Shroud are is never actually explained. At the end of the game they are shown to be hairless humans with corpse-white skin and highly advanced technology, although whether they are aliens, terrorists, mutants, or something else is never clearly revealed. Supposedly, the Shroud were vanquished 30 years ago, but their reappearance towards the end of the game shows that this is not true.

In the wake of the war, a large portion of the Earth is now an uncivilized wasteland known as "the Zone", inhabited by Scavengers, the violent descendants of prisoners and convicts who were released by the Shroud during the war. Human civilization is now controlled by a government known as the Alliance. According to the game manual, the Alliance mostly live in off-world colonies on other planets, but this is never shown
Main Story

Jack Mason is a medic for the Alliance, tasked with transporting a cryogenically frozen woman named Karina from the maximum security prison "the Anvil" to Alliance headquarters. However, while flying over "the Zone", Mason's ship is shot down by a surface-to-air missile, crash-landing down to Earth. Karina escapes in the ensuing chaos, and Mason ends up accidentally becoming infected with the mysterious transgenic virus Karina is carrying. Scavengers soon arrive and attempt to capture Karina and kill Mason. The Scavengers succeed in killing Stubbs, the pilot of the ship, but Mason manages to outfight them. Mason is suspicious that the incident is more than a mere Scavenger attack, as it seems unusual for them to possess a surface-to-air missile.

Although Karina is highly distrustful of Mason, her former captor, the two of them team up to evade the Scavengers. In the process, Mason learns that Karina possesses bizarre powers granted to her by the virus; when experiencing strong emotions, she involuntarily produces an explosive effect that creates mass destruction around her, but leaves herself unharmed.

Mason and Karina eventually succeed in radioing the Alliance for help, only to learn that Colonel Stockton, the Warden of "the Anvil", has ordered the Alliance to nuke the area and kill everything that moves, supposedly to contain the infection and prevent the spread of the virus. Karina is soon captured by Alliance Security, and Mason finds himself fighting against the very organization he works for.

Mason infiltrates "the Anvil" to retake Karina from Stockton, and finds that the Scavengers have also launched a massive assault against the Anvil for the same purpose.

It is eventually revealed that Colonel Stockton masterminded the attack on Mason's transport, and that he has paid off the Scavengers to capture Karina for him. However, he double-crossed the Scavengers, captured Karina himself, and now refuses to pay them.

Stockton is obsessed with battling the Shroud, and wants to use the virus Karina carries as a weapon against them. It was necessary for Stockton to kidnap Karina, because his superiors in the Alliance disagreed with his research and wanted to cancel the program and take Karina away from him
Endgame Revelations

Karina is a weapon created by the Shroud 30 years ago, but she was captured by the Alliance (specifically, Stockton's father) and cryogenically frozen. The virus she carries allows its host to generate massive amounts of energy from their bodies. This energy can be used to power Shroud weaponry and even to create a natural energy shield around the host's body. However, the virus and the energy it produces are also unstable, and hosts have a tendency to explode.

When Mason finally confronts Stockton, he learns that Stockton has infected himself with the virus, granting him powers such as a bulletproof energy-shield produced by his body, as well as the ability to use a captured Shroud energy weapon, the "Titan's Fist". The Shroud soon attack to capture Karina, and Stockton proceeds to use his newfound powers to battle them.

When Stockton attacks Mason to ensure that there is only one virus carrier, Mason succeeds in killing him and retrieving Karina. Karina wants to escape together with Mason far away from the conflict, but surprisingly Mason betrays her and hands her over to none other than the Shroud.

It turns out that Mason is a traitor who has been collaborating with the Shroud all along. His mission was to retrieve Karina and deliver her to the Shroud. Mason's daughter died some time ago. However, the Shroud possess the ability to bring the dead back to life. They promised to resurrect Mason's daughter in exchange for him returning Karina to them.

However, the Shroud betray Mason, and insist that he perform more "errands" for them before he will be allowed to see his daughter again. Mason realizes that the Shroud will never honor their end of the bargain, and even if they did Mason's daughter would no longer be his child, but the Shroud's
Finale

Mason goes on a one-man rampage through the Shroud outpost using his viral powers and the "Titan's Fist" taken from Stockton. Mason defeats a few dozen Shroud soldiers, finally killing a mysterious viral-powered Shroud woman protected by several Shroud assassins. However, when he finally reaches Karina, he finds her connected to Shroud machinery draining away her blood. The two of them are soon surrounded by Shroud soldiers. Karina tells Mason that he cannot rescue her, and begs him to end her life. Mason cannot bring himself to shoot Karina, and so shoots himself instead. When Karina realizes that Mason is dead, her out-of-control emotions produce a massive energy wave that envelops Mason's body and obliterates the Shroud outpost killing everyone

The King of Dragons

The King of Dragons free pc game full vrersion is a 1991 side-scrolling hack and slash arcade game by Capcom that allows players to choose from five characters (Elf, Wizard, Fighter, Cleric, and Dwarf) in order to travel through the kingdom of Malus and defeat the monsters that have taken over, as well as their leader, the red dragon Gildiss. The setting is very similar to that of Dungeons and Dragons and other medieval fantasy worlds, with familiar monsters such as Orcs, Gnolls, Harpies, Wyverns, Cyclopes, and Minotaurs. The game has 16 levels, though many are quite short

Much like Capcom’s Knights of the Round, King of Dragons features an RPG-like level advancement system. Points scored for killing monsters and picking up gold count towards experience, and the character gains levels at regular intervals. With each level, the character’s health bar increases, other attributes such as range improve, and the character also becomes invulnerable for a few seconds. Along the way, different weapon and armor upgrades for each character may also be picked up.
King of Dragons features a simple control system that consists of a single attack button, and a jump button. By pressing both buttons, the character unleashes a magical attack that strikes all enemies in screen (its strength varies according to the character used) at the expense of losing energy. The fighter, cleric and dwarf can also use their shield to block certain attacks by tilting the joystick back right before the impact Gameplay of The King of Dragons.
Elf
The elven archer has the greatest range and speed of all the characters. However, he can not equip a shield and he suffers from low defense and weak attack strength. Furthermore, the elf’s defense never increases through the course of the game and his jump is slower than that of both the Fighter and Wizard. By obtaining better bows the Elf increases the speed at which he fires arrows and their range, while arrow upgrades increase attack strength.
Wizard
The wizard wields only a magical staff. He has fairly low defense and average speed, but the best magic and the second best range. His attack power is weak early on, but extremely powerful later in the game. The speed at which the Wizard attacks does not improve, but is alleviated by the multi-hitting ability of his later staves. Defense is improved by various magical upgrades such as rings and amulets.
Fighter
The Fighter has the second strongest attack power. His range and speed easily outperform the other shield-carrying heroes (Cleric and Dwarf) and his jump is faster and higher. The Fighter gains HP the fastest and his speed can make his defense almost as good as the Cleric’s. The main thing he lacks is magic, at which he is the weakest.
Cleric
The cleric is the largest hero in the game. He has fairly good magic and attack strength, as well as the best defense, although he is a bit slow and has the worst agility of the bunch, able to make only short, and slow hops. He also carries a shield and gains levels much faster than anyone else. His recovery, after using the shield, is the fastest in the game. Whenever the cleric picks up a healing item he heals his teammates too, although it depends on the other character how often this works.
Dwarf
The Dwarf, as his name suggests, is the smallest target of the five. He has the slowest melee attack speed and the second strongest defense, is fairly quick, and also has a shield. The Dwarf has also the longest jump; however, he has fairly weak magic and the worst range: every third strike is a ranged strike (unlike the Cleric and Fighter who alternate between a close and ranged strike). Thanks to his short height, the dwarf cannot be hit by ranged attacks from enemies.
The game was ported to the Super NES in 1994. This port reduces the number of simultaneous players down to 2. The sprites’ size were also reduced moderately. It is also possible to assign the magic attack and shield defense to different buttons.
The arcade version is part of Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2, which was released for the PS2 & Xbox in November 2006. This was also in Capcom Classics Collection: Reloaded for the PlayStation Portable.
Game features
This was one of the many Capcom games to feature the Yashichi power-up item. In this game, there are three hidden throughout the game, each giving the player an extra continue. Also, although it might be a coincidence, the game’s overall style and setting are very similar to the games Capcom later made using the Dungeons & Dragons license in the mid ’90s. However, the gameplay was greatly changed.
The music in this game was composed by Yoko Shimomura. Some of the monster voices are identical to those made by Toho Kaiju such as Anguirus and King Ghidorah

It was released for the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube consoles and the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. The game is based upon the 1984 Belgian XIII comic book series.

Terminator 3 War of The Machines

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is a video game based on the film of the same name. It is a first-person shooter with elements of hand to hand combat in third-person perspective. A version was released for the Game Boy Advance on November 18, 2003 it was an isometric shooter. A puzzle game was also released for mobile phones. The game was also going to be launched for GameCube but was canceled for that console.

The video game follows the movie's basic story faithfully. Despite this, there are some inconsistencies in the game's cutscenes. For example, the terminator is seen driving the RV (this leads into some "future" levels) and next he is driving the veterinarian van again.

The game utilized both the likeness and the voices of the movie cast. Arnold Schwarzenegger claimed he very rarely voices characters in videogames but, he felt the game did the movie justice

the king of fighters 98The King of Fighters ’97 is a 1997 fighting game produced by SNK for the Neo Geo arcade and home console. It is the fourth game in The King of Fighters series. It was ported to the Neo-Geo CD, as well as the PlayStation and the Sega Saturn in Japan only. The Saturn requires the same 1MB RAM cartridge utilized by the previous game
KOF ’97 follows the same format as the previous KOF games, but introduces two distinct playing styles which the player can select before choosing their team: Advance and Extra. Advance mode is based on the previous game in the series, KOF ’96, but features a revamped Power Gauge. Instead of charging the Power Gauge, the Power Gauge is now filled whenever the player strikes the opponent or by performing Special Moves. The player can stock up to three Power Gauges. The player can use one stock of the Power Gauge to perform a Super Special Move or enter a “MAX” mode, in which the player’s defensive and offensive strength are increased. Performing a Super Special Move while in MAX mode will make the player perform a more powerful Super Special Move.
Extra mode is based on the first two games in the series, KOF ’94 and KOF ’95. Like in those games, the player fills the Power Gauge by charging it or defending against the opponent’s attacks. After the gauge is filled, the player enters MAX mode and like in Advance, their character’s offense and defense will increase. The player can only perform Super Special Moves in MAX mode or when the life gauge is near empty and flashing red. When the player performs a Super mode in MAX mode while the life gauge is flashing red, then the Super move will be even more powerful. The Emergency Roll maneuver from KOF ’96 used in Advance mode is replaced by the side-step from KOF ’94 KOF ’95

Despite the events at the end of the previous game, the KOF tournament was a huge commercial success and sparked a worldwide fighting craze. Within a few months of the tournament ending, various large corporations had held smaller KOF tournament qualifiers and constructed special KOF stadiums around the world, building the excitement up for the next tournament. News of the tournament spread through every form of media and fans and new fighters from across the globe come to watch the preliminary matches.
All of the characters from the previous game return, with the exception of the Boss Team (which was disbanded after its first appearance), Kasumi Todoh (who went off to search for her father), and Mature and Vice (who were killed by Iori Yagami after he was possessed by the Riot of Blood at the conclusion of the previous pc game
Chizuru Kagura, the sub-boss in the previous game, takes Kasumi’s place in the Women Fighters Team, while Geese Howard’s underling Billy Kane, who previously participated in The King of Fighters ’95 tournament, returns to join forces with female agent Blue Mary and wanted felon Ryuji Yamazaki (both from Fatal Fury 3) to form the unlikely “’97 Special Team”. Iori returns as a Team Edit character along with Shingo Yabuki, a high school student who patterns his fighting style after his idol and reluctant mentor Kyo Kusanagi. An alternative version from Kyo with his pre-KOF ’96 moveset also appears as a hidden character.
Iori and Leona will fight as sub-bosses characters in the Riot of the blood curse depending of which characters the player is using. A team of all new characters also appears in the form the “New Faces Team”, consisting of bandmates Yashiro Nanakase, Shermie, and Chris. The New Face Team will be revealed to be the last three servants from Orochi during the arcade mode. Additionally, they fight as sub-bosses characters having enhanced abilities than their common forms. Once they are beaten, Orochi will possess Chris’s body to fight as the last boss character.
Development
In order to decide who would become the members of the ’97 Special Team, three polls were conducted by the videogames journals Weekly Famitsu, Gamest and Neo Geo Freak, in which readers voted who was the character they wanted to see in the team. The Neo Geo Freak’s winner was Billy Kane and Famitsu’s winner was Ryuji Yamazaki. Blue Mary was first in the Gamest poll, winning to Duck King from the Fatal Fury series who was second. Additionally, the three journal created a team, which players can view an image of them after beating the game in the Japanese version. The special team created by the Neo Geo Freak’s staff was a team of fire wielders: Billy, Kyo Kusanagi, and Mai Shiranui. The Gamest’s team created was composed of Terry Bogard, Blue Mary and Joe Higashi, while Famitsu created a team composed of Chang Koehan, Choi Bounge and Ryuji Yamazaki.[1] Although Blue Mary had already two designs in the Fatal Fury series at this point (her original Fatal Fury 3 design and her Real Bout Special design), her designer wanted to use her Fatal Fury 3 design as he liked it more.[2] In order to have all of the eight servants from Orochi confirmed by this game, Yamazaki was chosen to be the new member as the staff noted him to be a good villain and liked that he was similar to a snake (as the ancient Orochi was a giant snake). In order to adapt him to KOF, the game planner had to provide new moves to Yamazaki. The new moves were initially noted to be failures, but designers later thought of them as successful.[3]
The New Faces Team was created to offset the remaining top three characters. Their members were developed to be the Hero Team’s counterparts; Chris manipulates fire like Kyo, Shermie uses lightings like Benimaru Nikaido and Yashiro Nanakase is a giant man like Goro Daimon.[4] The plot element of Chris acting as Orochi’s new body was developed since initial stages of production, but the staff had already though of using other idea.[5] At the inception of production, the plan was for Chris to use the “Flame of Darkness (Black Flame),” but due to difficulties of seeing the black flame in the screen it was changed to the purple ones.[6] The final boss character, Orochi, was first meant to be “a buck-naked Chris” fighting with a shining energy ball. However, it was opted to his current design after developers made a survey in which there were only two votes in favour of the first design. His design codename was “Chief”, but several people were against of giving him the name of “Orochi”.[7]
Iori Yagami in his Orochi form was originally meant to be the final boss of the game after the player beats the New Faces Team in their Orochi forms. However, it later decided to make Orochi Iori the mid-boss with Orochi becoming the final boss and the New Faces Team the sub-bosses.[8] Series’ flagship director, Toyohisa Tanabe, states that the staff was initially reluctant to add this version of Iori to the series’ roster—worried about fans’ reactions—but did so to add more impact to the Orochi saga’s climax. He was particularly pleased to see surprised reactions from female fans to this form during KOF ’97′s location testing.[9] After deciding Iori as the sub-boss character, developers also were focused in adding Leona as an alternative sub-boss character if players were already using Iori in the game. As such, several advertisements added such as televisions broadcasts sent were given as message to the player about a “fork in the game” to give hints about Orochi Leona.[10]
In The King of Fighters ’96, several moves from Kyo were changed in order to adapt him to the new game system. However, the original moveset was still popular between gamers and as such, an alternative version from Kyo was added to KOF ’97.[11] The introduction of this version was noted to be “a hit” within gamers, the staff kept adding new alternative versions of other characters to the sequels. This later led to the creation of the Kyo clones (Kyo-1 and Kyo-2) from The King of Fighters ’99.[12]

The King of Fighters ’98 (commonly abbreviated as KOF ’98) is a 1998 fighting game released by SNK released for the Neo Geo arcade and home console. It is the fifth game in The King of Fighters series. This installment was advertised by SNK as a “special edition” of the series, as it featured most of the characters who appeared in the previous games (from KOF ’94 to ’97), regardless of whether the character was killed off in the series’ ongoing storyline (which would resumed in the following game in the series with a new story arc).
Ports of KOF’ 98 were released for the Neo-Geo CD and the PlayStation. A Dreamcast version also released titled The King of Fighters: Dream Match 1999, which featured much of the stages remade in 3D. The game was also remade for the PlayStation 2 under the name of The King of Fighters ’98: Ultimate Match which expanded the number of playable characters.
As KOF ’98 did not feature a storyline, the SNK staff took this opportunity to add Rugal (who died in KOF ’95) as well as various alternate versions from various characters to the game. KOF ’98 has been commonly praised by several video game publications as the best KOF from the series due to its graphics and gameplay. Ultimate Match, however, was criticized for how similar it is to KOF ’98
